7 Batman Comics that should be movies! | Mind Game #6

Batman is DC’s most famous superhero. Also he is one of the characters with the stroylines in the DC multiverse. Today I will present you seven Batman comics that should be movies. Have fun!

Batman: The Long Halloween

The Long Halloween is a classic Batman story and has one of the best plots I have ever read in a comic book. It’s centered around the mysterious killer Holiday who kills people on holydays one per month. Also the story is set Batman’s early days fighting which could be combined with a short origin conclusion of the caped crusader. It’s pretty awesome that the reader learns more about a Gotham City before super villains like Bane, Joker, Riddler or Scarecrow came to the city.

The story would be also great to introduce many characters like Bruce Wayne/Batman, Alfred Pennyworth, Harvey Dent/Two-Face, James Gordon, Carmine Falcone, Sal Maroni and Selina Kyle/Catwoman for upcoming movies.

Batman: The Court of Owls & Batman: Night of the Owls

The two stories Court of Owls and Night of the Owls are the start of the New 52 Batman which, wrote by Scott Snyder, and is centered around the organization Court of Owls who rules Gotham since many years from the shadows. Batman and his allies encounter the Owls while their killers called Talon are trying to eliminate many of Gotham City’s most important and mightiest citizens.

This big storyline would be perfect for a second and third movie because of the creative villains. The Court of Owls could also bring parts of a horror movie to a Batman movie series.

Batman: Knightfall

The Dark Knight Rises from 2012 is based on the comic Knightfall but a detailed implementation would be great. The takes place over six months. Batman suffers burn gets systematically crippled but Bane, a “supersteroid”-based genius. While Bruce Wayne recovers from his heavy wound he is replaced as Batman by the anti-hero Azrael (Jean-Paul Valley), who become increasingly violent and unstable, tarnishing Batman’s reputation. After Wayne’s return he reclaims the Cowl of Batman and fights again Bane.

I’m pretty sure that this story would be perfect for a R-rated Batman movie and a perfect fan service with many cameos of Batman villains. Also this movie could introduce the characters Bane, Azrael and other Batman support characters like Dick Grayson, Tim Drake and Jason Todd.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns

Batman is perfect for horror, crime, science-fiction and fantasy stories. Also dystopian stories are possible as writer Frank Miller proofed us with his story The Dark Knight Returns from 1986. In this story an older Bruce Wayne returns as Batman to fight again crime in Gotham City. Also his archenemy the Joker returns and it’s reviled that Batman create his own enemies or at least it’s his fault that super villains come to Gotham City.

Also the other Dark Knight comics would be good for movies to create a mini universe in the universe.

Batman: Endgame

The two owl stories from mastermind Scott Snyder marks the beginning of Batman’s New 52 run. Endgame is the final of Batman’s fight against the Joker. The story is very simple but that makes it great. The Joker returns to Gotham City to end everything. He decided to kill Batman and all of his allies. It’s truly a Endgame for Batman and the Joker. Also this is one of the most modern psychedelic Batman stories.

Batman: The Killing Joke

Not direct a Batman movie but also a great story is The Killing Joke which focuses more on Joker the clown prince of Crime. An origin story for the Joker is not easy but The Killing Joke do this job fantastic and tells enough to understand how the Joker were create. Also this story would be good for some twists and changes in a bigger movie series.

A live action movie of The Killing Joke should ignore the animation movie with the same name and don’t change too much details of the story.

Batman: Year One

Another good start for a Batman movie series would be Batman: Year One. The story introduces many support characters of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also Carmine Falcone would be a “normal” and classic villain for the caped crusader during his early days.

Those were my thoughts about seven Batman stories which should be movies. I hope you enjoyed and we will read/hear us in the next post. Have a good read!
